WALDO R. WEDEL, native of Newton, is assistant curator of the division of archeology of the United States National Museum, Washington, D. C. JAMES C. MALIN, associate professor of history at the University of Kansas at Lawrence, is associate editor of The Kansas Historical Quarterly and is president of the Kansas History Teachers Association. He has in preparation a book on "John Brown and the Legend of Fifty-six." RAYMOND L. WELTY is assistant professor of history at Fort Hays Kansas State College at Hays. PAUL H.
