KANSAS COLLECTION ARTICLES

Contributed by Tom Carney

We are extremely grateful to Mr. Carney for his generosity
in allowing us to reproduce the preface to his book,
The Way It Was. This is a book about Alabama,
of course, and Huntsville specifically; but we believe that
he has captured here the heart of what we do at KanColl.

Mr. Carney continues to write. His most recent book
(as of November 1998) is Portraits in Time, a most evocative
title. And Old Huntsville Magazine continues to delight
its readers with stories such as "The Sword
of Bushwacker Johnston" and "Aunt Eunice."

We wish him well!
