The Reverend Richard Cordley was an early settler in Lawrence,
Kansas, choosing to come to this "Western Bastion of Freedom" at
a time when the guerilla war sometimes known as "Bleeding Kansas"
was at its height. "Pioneer Days in Kansas" deals with the events
of 1856-1865, and is one of the outstanding sources for that
period.
