JAMES CLAUDE MALIN, teacher, scholar, author and professor emeritus at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, as photographed in 1964. Although born in North Dakota in 1893 he soon became a Kansan, and "developed a view of man's past that is as broad and wide and all-encompassing as the prairies and plains of his native region."
